For the trainee solicitor or paralegal with ambition and a hard-working attitude, Spearing Waite is the perfect choice.

We offer up to 3 training contracts per year, normally starting in August, and we are regularly praised for the quality of the training we offer our trainee solicitors. As well as working in up to four different departments within the firm, trainee solicitors can expect to handle a diverse case load and have substantial client contact.

We believe that Spearing Waite trainee solicitors have a far more ‘hands on’ experience than at other firms, which allows the transition into qualification to be as seamless as possible. As we continue to expand there’s also every opportunity for trainee solicitors to qualify into the firm and then to progress in their chosen areas.

Paralegal opportunities arise throughout the year depending on work requirements. Just like our trainees, paralegals can also expect to have a full case load and client contact as well as attending diverse training sessions.

“I've enjoyed being a part of Spearing Waite's expansion and I'm excited to see what the future holds for the firm!”

Cara Ward, Trainee Solicitor 2015/2017 - Solicitor 2017

“Home grown talent is something we pride ourselves on and I am a perfect example of how Spearing Waite invests in its people on a long-term basis.”

Amanda Badley, Trainee Solicitor 1999/2001 - Partner since 2006

“Trainees are entrusted with a great deal of responsibility, but have a good support network and solicitors (from NQ to partner) are easily approachable.”

Gary Pitt - Trainee Solicitor 2013/2015 - Solicitor 2015

How to join Spearing Waite as a trainee solicitor or paralegal

We encourage applications for training contracts from both final year degree students and those candidates who may be further advanced in their studies. Ideally, CVs with covering letters should be submitted before 31 January for a training contract the following year.

From the applications we select candidates to either come for an interview or to attend an assessment day. Candidates may also be offered a week of work experience.

Send your CV and cover letter to Sarah Moore, HR Manager at Spearing Waite LLP, 34 Pocklingtons Walk, Leicester, LE1 6BU, or by email to sarah.moore@spearingwaite.com.

Unlike many firms, we also select trainees from our pool of paralegals, making this an excellent career step for those who are available to work immediately. Paralegals who do not yet have their LPC are encouraged to study on a part-time basis whilst working.

Spearing Waite is proud of its independent spirit. Our core values are at the heart of everything that we do.

Our partners and staff are very much in control of their own destiny and an ambitious trainee solicitor or paralegal will find there are no limits to how far she or he can progress.

Come & say hello

We regularly attend careers fairs in the area and also present to students both externally and at our office. Keep an eye on the Spearing Waite twitter feed for the next event.
