He advises on all areas of intellectual property law, and is experienced in assisting clients with trade mark and design matters. He helps clients to develop intelligent brand protection strategies in the UK and overseas, and handles UK, EU and international trade mark applications and has successfully represented clients in trade mark oppositions and disputes before the UK and EU intellectual property offices.
Tom also provides comprehensive advice in relation to design protection. He has filed over 200 design registrations for clients, in the UK and EU, and advised on related infringement and enforcement matters.
He handles a wide range of contentious IP matters in the UK courts, including copyright, design and trade mark disputes and is extremely knowledgeable about IT-related matters, the knowledge of which he uses to help clients negotiate software-related agreements and to deal with domain name disputes.
Tom is an Allied Member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA). He joined Spearing Waite in 2017 after working on the South Coast for several years, where he trained and qualified at a niche IP firm.
