Katherine joined Spearing Waite in 2011 as a trainee solicitor before qualifying into the employment department in August 2013.
She advises individuals on their employment rights and assists them in bringing grievances, negotiating exit packages, settlement agreements, resolving disputes and defending disciplinary charges.
Primarily she assists and advises employers, including assistance in drafting and implementing employee, worker and self-employed contractor agreements, drafting policies and handbooks and providing and delivering training. Katherine also guides employers through general HR queries, including management of disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, capability procedures and flexible working requests to minimise the risks of employee claims.
She is experienced in both bringing and defending unfair dismissal, discrimination and unlawful deduction from wages litigation.
Katherine also assists in broader strategic employment projects providing TUPE advice on the sale of all or part of a business or service change, on collective redundancy and restructuring, and on jurisdiction maters for employees engaged outside of the UK.
Katherine served as Chairman of City Slickers (a Spearing Waite networking group for junior professionals) for three years between 2013-2016.
She currently assists in delivering employment law update training on behalf of ACAS and is a University of Law mentor.
