Walkers Tyre Service, a well-established and successful business operating four sites in the Leicester area has been acquired by Micheldever Group’s retail division, Protyre.
The deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions completed by the division and brings the number of centres now operated under the Protyre brand to 70.
The addition of the four Walkers sites, which will continue to trade under the Walkers brand and with the existing team remaining in place, also significantly increases Protyre’s presence in the Midlands.
Simon Hiorns, Protyre’s retail director, said: “Walkers Tyre Service is a fantastic family-owned business, which has been operating for more than 50 years. It has a proud history and a terrific local reputation for delivering great customer service, technical expertise and value for money, all the qualities we expect from our own centres. In that respect, it is a natural fit with Team Protyre and I am very happy to be welcoming the business into our family.”
“From a business perspective, we have set ourselves ambitious growth targets and this is a clear demonstration of our ability to deliver on this intent.”
Acting on behalf of Walkers Tyres was Head of Corporate, Martin Smith of Spearing Waite LLP. Martin said “We were delighted to advise Walkers on the transaction and as a well-established and well-known local business wish them every success going forward”.
Martin Page, former co-owner of Walkers Tyre Service, said: “We are confident that Walkers Tyres will continue to be a strong local business following the acquisition. We were pleased to have Martin and the team at Spearing Waite on board to guide us through the process”.
Chris Castleman of Newby Castleman also advised Walkers Tyres on the sale.
